“Our calls always end with ‘I love you,’” said Sam Goldstein. He’s sitting next to Violet Winter in his apartment as she smiles and nods. Sam Goldstein and Violet Winter have been dating for 3 years. They speak three or four or five times a day on the phone. Sam is 102 and Violet is 100.

Both Sam and Violet led full lives with spouses whom they outlived and children who are now adults living elsewhere. In fact, Sam and Violet actually met decades ago in a different part of Florida when they and their spouses were living in the same community. Yet today, here they are. They again live in the same community, but each in their own home. They are both in good health and Sam still drives, often heading to the beach with Violet. Sam is quick to say that “At this point, there’s no worries.” But he also points out that regarding Violet, “I’d be lost without her.”

Sam and Violet are clearly amazing people. From the sound of it, they’ve been living their 100 Year Lifestyle for quite some time, and will likely continue to do so for quite some time. While they haven’t been lifelong love birds, they have been fortunate enough to get a second chance at love. With that love relationship comes much of the support, companionship, intimacy, and sense of belonging that is so important to all of us. It is wonderful to know that it’s never too late and you’re never too old to find love. Thank you Sam and Violet!
